On Thursday morning, South Africans were overjoyed by the news that the four Moti brothers were reunited with their parents. This comes after Zidan, Zayyad, Alaan, and Zia were allegedly abducted by seven gunmen, while being driven from their home in Polokwane’s Nirvana suburb to the nearby Curro Heuwelkruin School on October 20.
The family issued a statement via the Auto Moti business page on Facebook, saying: “We thank Almighty Allah for accepting our prayers and the prayers of so many in South Africa.
“We wish to express our sincere gratitude to South African Police Services, our political parties, the media, all the social media influencers and everyone who prayed for the safety of our children.”
According to the police, they received a call from a local resident in Vuwani, Limpopo, who alerted officers to the brothers arrival at their house, saying they were dropped off in a nearby road.
Family spokesperson Nazir Osman said on Thursday afternoon, as per TimesLive: “This ordeal has been extremely traumatic for the boys and the entire Moti family. We humbly request that the public respect and uphold their privacy as they rest and recuperate.”
The Moti family appealed to the media and the public to be cautious when sharing any unsubstantiated or misleading information regarding the case, as the police investigation unfolds.
“As the investigation is ongoing, any speculation at this time could be harmful to the course of justice – the outcome of which could prevent this unscrupulous crime from happening to another family and their children.”
The police have yet to interview the children, and psychologists will be arranged to assist, News24 reports.
