This comes after Jovan Williams made his first appearance in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court after being denied bail.
Williams is accused of stabbing the vet, who worked for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, during a fight. The state claims that the 39-year-old man was part of a wheel theft syndicate that targeted Jacobs’s wife’s vehicle when they were confronted outside his Garlandale home.
The death of Jacobs sparked outrage, and cops went on the hunt for Williams, who had left his cell phone at the crime scene.
After months of searching, Williams handed himself over to the police after his picture was published in the media.

In his first two appearances, it was revealed that investigators discovered the wheelie bin used by the group to transport the stolen wheels, as well as a backpack containing tools and a cell phone, on the scene.
The cellphone containing Williams’ information was discovered at the scene, and it was also revealed that he had previous convictions for illegal possession of ammunition and drugs, as well as malicious property damage.
He was denied bail in September after admitting to stabbing someone on the night of the murder.
It was revealed on Tuesday that the post-mortem pictures were still outstanding, and the case was postponed to 30 January.
Jacobs completed his community service as a CCS veterinarian at the Wingfield Animal Health Centre and the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, working under the supervision of SPCA Board member Dr Ayoub Banderker, and signed a contract for permanent employment with the SPCA shortly before the incident.
