‘Cape Town’s Netball World Cup Fan Park has been the place to be for netball and sports lovers over the last couple of days. It’s the perfect space for pre-game entertainment for those with tickets for courtside seats and has been a base for fans without tickets who are looking to enjoy a great watching experience with other netball lovers.
‘Our goal for this fan park has been to provide access for those who cannot afford tickets while also providing them with a safe environment to enjoy entertainment, games and art for 12-hours a day. The free Fan Park remains open until the last match of the tournament and we’d like to encourage more people to come through to the Fan Park and enjoy a day filled with fun and lots of entertainment,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
The area also marked the pinnacle of the City-sponsored Sporting Chance Street Netball Programme, a commendable initiative that fostered the growth of 760 under-13 girls from eight local communities. As a result of this program, some of these young talents earned the chance to witness the Netball World Cup games firsthand.
Located on Walter Sisulu Drive, between Heerengracht and Buitengracht, the Fan Park is the official viewing area for the Netball World Cup Cape Town 2023. Operating from 7am daily until the conclusion of the last game of the day, it offers spectators an exceptional experience to enjoy the tournament’s action.
