The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) is seeking the public’s help in identifying those responsible for an act of animal cruelty where a snake was force-fed alcohol, believed to be Carling Black Label beer.

The NSPCA was alerted to this incident through video footage but could not determine when or where it occurred.
‘The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) has received footage of a South African python being force-fed with beer,’ said the organisation in a Facebook post.
‘An investigation is underway, however, the NSPCA has been unable to establish the origin of the video and, accordingly, the perpetrators.’
‘We request anyone with information about the incident, the perpetrators or the origin of the video to please contact the NSPCA Special Projects Unit at 011 907 3590 or email [email protected],’ the post continued.
The NSPCA recently took action against Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), for his role in the stabbing and killing of a cow during the party’s 10th anniversary celebration.
This after a video showing Malema taking several jabs on the back of the cow’s head using two small knives went viral on social media.
It is reported that Malema also twisted the knife into the fully-conscious animal’s poll over 60 times.
The NSPCA said it received numerous complaints from concerned citizens.
The organisation has laid criminal charges against Malema for violating the Animals Protection Act and are collaborating with law enforcement and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in this matter.
‘After a thorough investigation into the contraventions depicted in the video, the NSPCA has laid criminal charges against Malema in accordance with the Animals Protection Act. The NSPCA will work with law enforcement and the prosecuting authority to ensure a comprehensive investigation and prosecution,’ EWN quoted spokesperson Jacques Peacock as saying.
Peacock said it appeared that the cow had suffered significant distress.
He added: ‘It is crucial that thosewho inflict harm upon animals are held accountable for their actions as this sends a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our society.’
