The NSRI rescue craft, Donna Nicholas, located the man’s sea kayak semi-submerged and recovered it.
The fisherman later collected it from the NSRI Simon’s Town Station 10 rescue base, where he confirmed that his vessel took on water while he was fishing. Luckily, he was close to the shore, where he clambered onto rocks to get to safety.
He also wore a life jacket.
NSRI encouraged him to download and use the NSRI SafeTrx smartphone application for future safety.
