Paarl Boys’ High has brought in a familiar name to lead its coaching programme, with Swys de Bruin appointed as the school’s new Head of Coaching, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The announcement was made on Monday, with the experienced coach returning to the school environment after most recently serving as head coach of the Springbok Women.
De Bruin held that national role until August 2026 and will now take on a broader coaching position at Paarl Boys’ High, overseeing the school’s rugby coaching structure.
There is also a family connection to the appointment. De Bruin succeeds his son, Neil, who previously occupied the Head of Coaching position before leaving the role in 2025.
Neil later joined Johan Ackermann at the Bulls, continuing his coaching career at the professional level.
While De Bruin takes charge of the overall coaching programme, the school has also confirmed a new man at the helm of its First XV.
George Earle has been appointed First XV head coach, stepping into the role previously held by Sean Erasmus.
Erasmus has since moved on to Maties, opening the door for Earle to take charge of the school’s top team.
The appointment is a natural progression for Earle, who joined Paarl Boys’ High’s First XV coaching staff in 2025.
With De Bruin now overseeing the broader coaching setup and Earle taking responsibility for the First XV, Paarl Boys’ High will head into its next chapter with a new-look leadership structure in place.
The appointments also bring together considerable coaching experience, with De Bruin returning to the school environment after his stint with the Springbok Women and Earle moving into the top coaching role after working within the First XV setup.
