South Africans can expect to see an increase in petrol and diesel prices for the month of April, according to a press statement released by the Central Energy Fund (CEF) on 27 March 2024.
Petrol drivers and ‘a small set of diesel drivers’ will be affected by tomorrow’s nearly 70 cents per litre increase, with the rest of the country’s diesel drivers living along the coast facing a minor 2 cents per litre decrease, as reported by Stuff.

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’s changes will take effect at the country’s pumps starting at midnight on Wednesday, 3 April 2024.
As stated by the fuel price change statement, the ‘combined cumulative petrol and diesel Slate’ balanced at R2.65 billion at the end of February, meaning that an additional 21.92 cents per litre was tacked onto this month’s changes.
Certain prices for Petrol 93, Petrol 95, Diesel 0.05%, Diesel 0.005%, Illuminating Paraffin and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPGAS) will see an increase or decrease in prices, inland and coastal.
Inland prices will change as follows:
Petrol 93 will see an increase of 65 cents per litre (R0.65)
Petrol 95 will see an increase of 67 cents per litre (R0.67)
Diesel 0.05% will see an increase of 3 cents per litre (R0.03)
Diesel 0.005% will see a decrease of 2 cents per litre (R0.02)
Illuminating Paraffin will see a decrease of 29 cents per litre (R0.29)
LPGAS will see a decrease of 19 cents per kilogramme (R0.19)
Coastal prices will change as follows:
Petrol 93 will see an increase of 58 cents per litre (R0.58)
Petrol 95 will see an increase of 60 cents per litre (R0.60)
Diesel 0.05% will see a decrease of 4 cents per litre (R0.04)
Diesel 0.005% will see a decrease of 9 cents per litre (R0.09)
Illuminating Paraffin will see a decrease of 26 cents per litre (R0.26)
LPGAS will see a decrease of 19 cents per kilogramme (R0.19)
