Many of us have had those exhaustive moments where all we’ve wanted to do during our work hours is take a nap.
But while napping on the job may be a possibility for some employees (we’re looking at you SAPS), it’s definitely a no-no for others.
One such job is that of a pilot but, unfortunately, two pilots from an Ethiopian Airlines flight did not get the memo.
The pair reportedly took a nap during a flight from Sudan to Ethiopia which saw the aircraft miss the runway and pass its destination – Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, as per CNN.
Air traffic control reportedly tried to get hold of the crew multiple times but to no avail. Thankfully, an alarm went off in the plane, waking the sleeping pilots and ensuring that they safely landed the plane 25 minutes later, reports NBC News.
Ethiopian Airlines did not confirm the incident but did state that the aircraft temporarily lost contact with air traffic control.
“The flight later landed safely after communication was restored,” the airline indicated in a statement.
The statement further indicated that the crew involved were “removed from operation” pending an investigation.
Perhaps there is no reward when it comes to sleeping on the job.
