He is due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court this morning.
The alleged stabbing occurred after the driver allegedly refused to drop the group of friends off at their requested location in Dunoons after being paid his R90 fare for the trip and making two stops at ATMs to withdraw cash.
Following a disagreement with the young women, the driver intended to dump them at a petrol station, but they refused. The driver then drove the young women to the Table View police station, where officers reportedly instructed him to complete the trip because he had been paid his fare.
Later, a physical altercation erupted between the driver and one of the five young women after he stole their mobile while they were recording the incident. The young women successfully retrieved the phone.
