‘We’ve been in discussion with the SARS Commissioner and we’ve focused our attention on the transition. His term is coming to an end, and I’ve asked him to stay on so that we can ensure that a number of the measures that he’s putting in place are bedded down and that a proper transition can then take place,’ stated Ramaphosa.
The President sought to allay any concerns, asserting that the situation is being managed effectively. He commended Kieswetter for his cooperation, commitment and diligence in his role, particularly in revitalising SARS from the impact of state capture. Ramaphosa affirmed that SARS is operating at a level of efficiency comparable to its previous standards.
