Another dog attack occurred on the Promenade in Mouille Point on Thursday afternoon. A woman was out for a walk with her daughter’s chow and was sitting on the wall next to the skateboard area, her dog quietly beside her. Her dog was leashed.

She noticed a couple approaching with two dogs described as Staffordshire terrier/bull terrier crossbreeds, one leashed and the other not.
The unleashed dog charged at her and her dog, immediately attacking the chow.
The owner, who was approximately 50 metres behind the dog, attempted to call him but was unsuccessful. When the couple caught up to their unleashed dog, the leashed dog began attacking the chow as well.
Several passers-by stepped in to help separate the dogs.

This is not the first time that these two dogs have attacked her and her dog, according to Green Point Neighbourhood Watch chairperson Peter Flentov.
‘About six months ago they had attacked her near the same spot,’ he stated on Facebook. ‘On that occassion she sustained bite wounds that needed medical attention.’
‘As six months earlier, the owners of the dogs, described as a couple in their late 50s or early 60s, were “dismissive” of the incident. Last rime they reportedly gave the woman an incorrect number. They expressed surprise that their dog had attacked the chow as he “normally only goes for huskies.”’
‘The chow does not appear to have sustained any serious injuries – its thick fur and the quick action by the passersby appear to saved it from injury.’
In February, a woman who took her dog for a walk in Sea Point was also left with a R10 000 vet bill after her greyhound was mauled by a pit bull on a leash.
