Gift of the Givers Foundation, known for its humanitarian efforts, has stepped in to provide much-needed aid, offering food and support to those affected.
According to News24, reports from the City of Cape Town’s disaster risk management teams indicate that the fires tore through hundreds of structures across various areas, displacing hundreds of residents.
In one instance, a fire in Mfuleni destroyed 200 structures, affecting 410 people, while another in Doornbach (ZweZwe) destroyed 71 structures, impacting 158 residents.
Langa had 36 structures destroyed, leaving 123 individuals in distress.
The devastating impact of these fires extends beyond the loss of property, with residents grappling with the emotional and psychological toll of the disasters.
For many, the fires struck unexpectedly, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
