The maintenance work is set to take place from 8am on Wednesday, 3 April, until midnight on Friday, 5 April at the crucial facility, which supplies water to a large part of the city.
To mitigate the impact, the directorate said that alternate water supply will be rerouted from the other water treatment plants to the Blackheath WTP water supply areas for the duration of the shutdown.
This, however, may result in a temporary reduction of water pressure in some parts of the city.

In light of this, residents are urged to curb their water usage during the shutdown period.
‘Residents across Cape Town are kindly requested to reduce their water consumption to ensure the provision of a sustainable water supply during the shutdown period,’ said the City.
The City also said it sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but reiterated the importance of maintaining its water supply infrastructure for the benefit of its customers.
