The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is embarking on a significant road resurfacing project that will bring about vital improvements to Beach Road and Faure Street in Gordon’s Bay.
This endeavour, set to commence this week, is anticipated to conclude by 29 November, with the goal of optimising transportation infrastructure.
This comprehensive project encompasses various crucial aspects to enhance road quality and safety. The initiative will address the repair of kerbs, channels and isolated block paving. Moreover, it will rectify surface and base failures that have been affecting these roadways.
A new bituminous surfacing layer will be implemented, ensuring smoother and more durable road conditions for motorists. Existing speed humps will be reconstructed to ensure their effectiveness in managing traffic flow and promoting safety.

Pedestrian crossings will also undergo a redo, further improving safety for Gordon’s Bay residents and visitors. And, to enhance navigational clarity, new road signs and markings will be installed.
The City of Cape Town acknowledges the potential inconvenience that road users may experience during this construction period. However, proactive measures will be in place to minimise disruptions.
Traffic will be deviated away from the construction zones, ensuring that vehicles can move smoothly in both directions, and road resurfacing activities will primarily occur during daytime hours, from 8am to 5pm on weekdays.
While every effort will be made to facilitate traffic flow, road users are encouraged to explore alternative routes during this construction. The City emphasises that the safety and convenience of the travelling public remain paramount and assures that courtesy will always be extended to residents and visitors.
