Wife-killer Rob Packham (58) has been handed down a 22-year sentence for the murder of his wife Gill Packham, as well as for obstructing the ends of justice when he set both her car and body alight in an attempt to cover up the crime.

As reported by News24, Packham showed no emotion as his sentence was handed down. According to Judge Elize Steyn, the murder of Gill was “callous, brutal and shocking” and “no remorse has been demonstrated by the accused”.

She added that Packham decided to cover his own tracks instead of calling an ambulance while his wife was dying. Furthermore, throughout out the duration of the trial “not once did he mention that he misses his wife or feels sympathy for his children,” she said.

Steyn also said she is well aware of the sentence’s effects not only on him but on his family and loved ones.

Packham’s sister and one of his daughters reportedly watched as he was led away in handcuffs.
