A suspected robber pointed a weapon at rangers on Lion’s Head in the early hours of Thursday morning. At around 2:30am, rangers and the SEAM Team K9 unit responded to a robbery on Lion’s Head and conducted a patrol in the area.

An individual emerged from the bushes as they approached the Kramat, cocked his weapon and pointed it at them before attempting to flee the scene. The Lion’s Head Summit was subsequently closed off for the safety of users approaching the area.
As per a statement by SANParks, no one was injured and it was later discovered that the ammunition loaded in the robber’s weapon were blank shells.
‘With utmost courage and determination, our Visitor Safety Rangers, SEAM Team, Camps Bay Neighborhood Watch, Community Policing Forum (CPA), City of Cape Town Law Enforcement, and South African Police Services (SAPS), CBCSI, PPA, Cyclops, worked together to secure the area and pursue the suspect. SAPS Drones were swiftly deployed to aid in the search.

SANParks urges visitors to engage in their activities between sunrise and sunset to avoid such encounters.
