The 15-year-old had dived off rocks into the surf at Fish Hoek Beach before being rescued from the water by the lifeguards.
While the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Simon’s Town station was placed on alert, SAPS, WC Government Health EMS, Cape Medical Response and City law enforcement also responded.
‘After extensive CPR efforts were exhausted, sadly, the teenage was declared deceased,’ reported NSRI.
‘The body of the teenager was taken into the care of Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.’
An inquest docket has been opened by police.
