Hikers in Cape Town can breathe a sigh of relief again. The decision to reopen parts of the tourism sector by Minister of Tourism Kubayi-Ngubane was welcomed by SANParks and Table Mountain will be open once again.

In statement on SANparks website, released on Sunday evening, they announced the reopening of Table Mountain National Park, with restrictions on certain areas.

“SANParks would like to announce that only its open-access national parks namely Golden Gate Highlands-, parts of Garden Route- and Table Mountain National Park with the exception of Boulders Beach and Cape Point will allow access to visitors from Monday, 1 June 2020,” the statement read.

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries will release a statement in due course regarding the opening of the other parks.

In the meanwhile, happy hiking!
