Over the course of this weekend, the Western Cape had an alarming number of car crashes. According to SABC News Western Cape, six people died on the Cape’s roads since the beginning of the weekend.

In addition to this, forty-one drunk drivers have been arrested.

On Saturday night on Camps Bay drive, a family endured a head-on collision with a black BMW M4. The driver and his friends fled the scene on foot. The children and parents are reportedly traumatised following the ordeal and are seeking any information regarding the driver’s whereabouts.

The Facebook group 1Second CPT-Daily Safety and Security Alerts shared two harrowing accidents on it’s page. Early Saturday morning on the R304 between Klipheuwel and Stellenbosch road, two cars were involved in a head-on collision. The two passengers, 29 year-old-woman and 15-year-old girl in one of the vehicles died, while the driver in the other car sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Another fatal accident occurred on Saturday on the Huisrivier Pass on the R-62 between Ladysmith and Calitzdorp in the Little Karoo. The 27-year-old female driver plunged down the mountain and did not survive.
