UPDATE:
SANParks – Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) confirmed in a statement on Facebook that a 24-year-old male drowned in the Silvermine Dam on Sunday afternoon.
His body has since been retrieved by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).
‘The body was retrieved by the SAPS diving unit with the assistance of an NSRI vessel,’ confirmed TMNP Park Manager Megan Taplin. ‘The family positively identified the body and is now undergoing counselling.’
Taplin expressed her condolences to the family and gratitude to the emergency personnel for their assistance, dedication and hard work during this time.
Emergency personnel involved included SAPS, NSRI, City of Cape Town and TMNP rangers.
This comes shortly after TMNP announced that the Silvermine Dam is currently closed to the public until further notice.

This comes after a drowning incident took place on Sunday, 12 November.
SANParks – Table Mountain National Park took to Facebook to issue a statement to address the public: ‘Table Mountain National Park will continue to provide updates on progress being made once the information becomes available and we kindly request visitors to be patient with us during this time,’ read the statement.
