If you thought Saturday’s URC coastal derby would consist purely of 80 minutes of action-packed rugby and nothing else, think again.
The DHL Stormers are turning their Vodacom United Rugby Championship clash against the Hollywoodbets Sharks into a full Cape Town day out, and with tickets starting from just R90, there’s plenty of reason to get your plans sorted now.
Dubbed ‘Beyond 80 Minutes’ for good measure, this season kicks off well before the first whistle, with live music, local food, family entertainment, player meet-and-greets, activations and more taking over DHL Stadium from 13:00.

Then, the DHL Stormers-Hollywoodbets Sharks clash kicks off at 16:00 on Saturday, 10 October, with both teams set to bring plenty of Springbok firepower to the first Cape Town Stadium match day of the 2026/27 season.
Plus, the Stormers are set to debut their new black away kit, inspired by the iconic 1999 Men in Black campaign, meaning there will be plenty to look forward to on the field too – besides the rugby, of course.
Come for the rugby, stay for the gees
From the moment the gates open at 13:00, the stadium will burst into a celebration of Cape Town, its people and its culture.
The concourse will come alive with food trucks, bars, kids’ activities and activations, while local talent brings the sounds of the city. Expect everything from marimba and choir performances to the unmistakable energy of the Kaapse Klopse, with performances from Ikamva Marimba Band, Isibane se Afrika and 7 Steps Minstrels.
For those who want to get a little closer to the action, there will also be a DHL Stormers player signing session outside the merch store near Block 117 from 14:15 to 15:00. It’s a chance to meet some of the players up close before they swap handshakes for tackles and head onto the field.
There will also be rugby on the big screens, too. The Vodacom URC clash between the 10bet Lions and Vodacom Bulls will be screened live in the build-up to kick-off, keeping fans plugged into the action across the league.
And just before the Stormers and Sharks take to the field. Red Bull has a special act planned. So, yes, you’ll want to be in your seat before the kick-off.

Bring your game face
While the rugby action takes over the field, the party doesn’t stop in the stands. Keep an eye on the big screens during the match, where fan cameras will be scanning the crowd for some of the stadium’s biggest personalities. Getting caught on camera could even put you in line to win some exciting prizes.
Another reason to arrive early: Fans who scan into the stadium on the Stormers App before 14:00 will automatically be entered into a draw to win either beer for a year or R5 000 in cash from Castle Lager. Consider it an added incentive to beat the crowds and make the most of the afternoon.
And when the final whistle blows…
The day doesn’t end when the scoreboard does, as the DHL Stormers squad will remain on the pitch for around 30 minutes after the final whistle to give fans the opportunity to meet the players, take in the atmosphere and create a few more memories before heading home.
It’s a fitting end to a match day built around the idea that sports can be about more than what happens on the field.
Ready to make a day of it? Tickets start from just R90, so round up your friends, bring the family and join in on both the rugby action and the ‘full-blown occasion’ that comes with it.
