Parents protested outside a high school in Goodwood, Cape Town, in response to the stabbing of a Grade 11 learner outside the property earlier this week.

On Monday, a teen from JG Meiring High School was attacked by unknown suspects.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg stated, ‘Parow police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a stabbing incident that left a 16-year-old boy with a stab wound to his head at a secondary school on the corner of Dingle and Elize streets.’
The student was brought back to school and then taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Concerned parents protested outside the school on Tuesday.
Kerry Mauchline, spokesperson for the provincial education department, confirmed that they were aware of the incident.

‘Our district support team was at the school on Tuesday morning to provide counselling to learners and teachers and SAPS will investigate the incident. We appeal to anyone with information that could lead to arrests,’ said Mauchline.
A case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm was filed.
According to EWN, SGB Chairperson Ravell Roberts has invited available parents to a meeting at the school on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the formation of groups of people who will conduct visible patrols in the mornings and afternoons to ensure student safety and prevent fights.
‘We would want to stand side by side with parents because these are our kids at the end of the day. If the parents come on board as a key stakeholder and support us in the afternoons to be visible and patrol, join hands with us in the afternoons, in the mornings and let’s do what we can,’ said Roberts.
