Jana travelled to Cape Town in June to hand over DNA samples to police in an attempt to find out what had happened to him.
The family stated that they will continue to offer an R20 000 reward for any information leading to Frischke’s capture and have created a new poster in support of their request. They stated that all information would be kept private.
Jana stated that she had been raising two children on her own since 2007, that she had lost her mother to cancer in 2020, and that she was dealing with the trauma of not knowing where her son was.
Frischke’s case took a dramatic turn in October when the man accused of robbing him was charged with murder despite the fact that the body had not been found.
Frischke went missing in February on the Hangberg trail between Hout Bay and Sandy Bay.
Robbery charges have also been filed against Igshaan Fisher, Jason Abrahams, Vanroy Petersen, Carlo Guenantin, and Melvin Guenantin.
Frischke’s belongings were discovered in the possession of the group.
On November 9, the men were back in the dock.
Police and volunteers have conducted extensive searches for Frischke.
Frischke is 1.75 metres tall and athletic, having completed a climbing course and regularly competing in running events. ‘There are no new developments to report at this stage,’ said police spokesperson Wesley Twigg, adding that the case was still under investigation.
