After working closely with its local neighbourhood watch group, a private security company was able to narrow in on a wanted suspect who had been on the run since 2016.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) issued a warrant for Jan Lewis Strydom’s arrest after he failed to appear in the Victoria West District Court to face charges of rape and child pornography, reported JP Smith in his latest Facebook post.

SJC Security’s Special Operations team managed to narrow down the 42-year-old suspect’s location to a premises in Hill Street, Kraaifontein.
After acquiring the warrant for arrest from SAPS, the team, together with Law Enforcement, entered the premises on Wednesday evening.
The wanted suspect was found hiding in one of the buildings on the premises.
‘The suspect was arrested and detained at Kraaifontein police station, where arrangements are being made to transfer him back to Northern Cape to answer for the charges,’ said Smith.
Strydom is wanted for alleged child pornography and rape of an 11-year-old girl in Victoria West, during March 2016.
‘Several computers and storage devices were seized in the operation as well,’ added Smith.
