One man was shot dead while a second was wounded in what is believed to have been a gang-related incident on the corner of Klip and Strandfontein Roads, in Lotus River on Monday evening.

Spokesperson for the SAPS in the province, Wesley Twigg said that police arrived on the scene shortly before 10pm where they found that both men had been shot several times.
‘The 44-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by paramedics while the other victim, a 33-year-old male, was taken to a medical facility for treatment,’ said Twigg.
‘The gunmen fled from the scene and are still at large.’
Posting on community WhatsApp groups, residents claimed that one of the victims was helping the other to push his stuck vehicle.
According to News24, City of Cape Town law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason confirmed that officers were on the scene where one of the suspects was fatally wounded while the second was transported to hospital for medical treatment.
In a separate incident, police on Sunday night, received complaints of a shooting on the corner of Strandfontein and Ottery Roads where a third man was wounded.

‘The victim was transferred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment,’ Twigg confirmed. ‘The unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The possibility that the motive for this attack is gang-related cannot be excluded,’ police said.
Twigg could not confirm if the two attacks were linked to each other.
However, Community Policing Forum (CPF) spokesperson Nicole Jacobus told News24 they were aware of both isolated shootings, which are now subject to a police investigation, calling on members of the community to come forward with more information.
