Thanks to a partnership with the Western Cape Government’s (WCG) Department of Community Safety, the officers will conduct visible policing and assist rangers with daily conservation and tourism duties.
Megan Taplin, TMNP manager, says TMNP is an open-access park that requires more support to curb criminal activities affecting visitors. ‘The Tourism Safety Officer team will boost our existing visitor safety and law enforcement work alongside our rangers. We welcome the Tourism Safety Officers and I’m grateful for the support that we are receiving from the Department of Community Safety to help us increase visible policing on the mountain.’
