A high-profile taxi boss has been arrested in Pretoria in connection with extortion, fraud, intimidation, murder, attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm in and around Cape Town.

A follow-up on intelligence led SAPS officers to a location in East Silver Lakes, Pretoria, where he was reportedly hiding to avoid arrest on Sunday.
According to police spokesperson FC van Wyk, information received indicated that the target was travelling between the Eastern Cape, East London and Pretoria.

He stated that the man was identified as the prime suspect and arrested on the various arrest warrants issued against the perpetrator for a Nyanga murder and double attempted murder case.
Further warrants were issued in Mfuleni for possession of an unlicensed firearm and in Ocean View for impersonating a police official.
‘SAPS members worked around the clock to follow up information received and to secure the arrest, which also led to the successful confiscation of one 9mm Glock pistol with 15 rounds, laptops, cellular telephones a white Ford Ranger and vehicle documents. The suspect will be charged for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and will appear in the Pretoria Central Magistrate Court on Monday,’ said Van Wyk.
