A tuck shop owner in Parkwood who is accused of shooting and killing one teenager and wounding another is expected to make his first court appearance this week.

The accused was reportedly involved in an altercation with the two teenagers before opening fire on them.
According to police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie, the Grassy Park SAPS is investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.
‘Grassy Park police are probing a murder and an attempted murder case following a shooting incident that claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy and injured a 14-year-old boy in Heath Road, Grassy Park, at about 7.40pm.’
‘Preliminary information reveals that the owner of a tuck shop had an argument with the victims before shots were fired.’
‘The 16-year-old succumbed to a gunshot wound to the face while the 14-year-old was wounded in his leg and later hospitalised to receive medical treatment.’
‘A 37-year-old Somalian national was arrested in connection with the murder.’
‘Police also seized a 9mm Norinco pistol and ammunition found at the scene.’
‘Further investigation pertaining to the firearm revealed that the firearm was reported as stolen in Ermelo during December 2022,’ said Pojie.
The SAPS spokesperson further confirmed that the suspect would appear in court after he was arrested and charged.
‘He stands accused of murder, attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The investigation continues,’ said Pojie.
Meanwhile, SAPS members attached to the Anti-Economic and Extortion task team ensured that a 36-year-old foreign national suspected of dealing in drugs gets his day in court after he was caught in possession of drugs with an estimated value of R700 000.
The members received a tip-off of a vehicle transporting a consignment of drugs on the N7 on Saturday morning.
When the members spotted the vehicle that matched the description, they pulled it off the road and began a search. They discovered tik to the value of R50 000.
Further investigation then led the members to the suspect’s residence, where they found and seized a substantial quantity of drugs to the estimated value of about R650 000, including 3 689 mandrax tablets, tik and 619 ecstasy tablets, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug trafficking and dealing.
The find was confiscated as evidence and the accused was apprehended and detained.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court later today.
In an unrelated incident on Friday, members on duty at a vehicle checkpoint on the N7, near Clanwilliam, pulled over a vehicle with five occupants suspected of transporting illegal firearms and ammunition and proceeded with a search. A 42-year-old suspect was found in possession of dozens of 9mm rounds of ammunition and was arrested on the spot.
He is due to appear in the Clanwilliam Magistrates’ Court later today on a charge of illegal possession of ammunition.
