A group of 40 protestors took to Sea Point pavilion to stage a peaceful protest. However, after numerous warnings, police arrested two anti-vax and anti-mask protestors, reports News24.
The demonstration took place on Saturday, October 9, with the group marching from Sea Point pool to Three Anchor Bay. Demonstrators carried posters encouraging South Africans to “say no to the experimental jab”, “our body, no mask, no vaccines”, “Prof Carim puppet of Bill Gates.”
As they made their way back to Sea Point pool, the protestors were met by the police, who issued a warning before getting into a scuffle. Two men aged 25 and 51 were arrested for failing to wear masks in a public space.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk states that additional charges of contravening the Disaster Management Act have also been included, reports IOL.
“Both were released on a warning, and will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on November 17, on the mentioned charges,” said Van Wyk.
This is not the first anti-vax protest to take place in Sea Point. Earlier this month, approximately 200 people band together for one common goal – to showcase their disapproval of what they referred to as “medical apartheid.”
