Two Cape Town teenagers, a 13-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, were murdered in unrelated cases on Saturday. Suspects have been arrested in both cases.
The 13-year-old boy’s body was found on Henkel Street in The Hague, Delft, on Saturday afternoon. The boy passed away after sustaining a gunshot wound.
Western Cape police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said police arrived to find the boy already dead.
“He was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel.”
A 16-year-old boy has since been arrested on a charge of murder, and will appear in the Bellville Magistrate court.
In Kwazakhele street in Mfuleni on the same day, the body of a 16-year-old girl was found.
Swartbooi said that police arrived at the scene, but the teen was already dead.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. We can confirm that a 19-year-old was arrested and detained on a charge of murder.”
The suspect will appear at the Mfuleni Magistrate Court once charged.
