Two people were robbed at gunpoint at around 4:45am on Lion’s Head on Sunday.

The Western Cape police are urging the public to provide any details they may have following a robbery incident at Lion’s Head in Cape Town.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, an unidentified suspect confronted the victims and forcibly took their belongings at gunpoint.
Two mobile phones, wristwatches and other items are among the stolen possessions. ‘Cape Town central police are investigating an armed robbery case following an incident on Sunday morning at about 04:45 on Lion’s Head.’
A recent surge in criminal activities on the mountain has raised public concerns as the city braces for an influx of tourists this festive season, EWN reports.
The latest incident involves two female hikers who were also robbed at gunpoint at the top of Kasteelspoort at around 8:15am this morning.
According to Peter Flentov of the Atlantic Seaboard Community Forum, the assailant was dressed like a hiker and wore khaki pants. ‘He threatend the two hikers with a large knife, stole their cellphones, money and rings and fled towards Theresa Avenue, Camps Bay. The shaken-up victims decided to hike to safety using a trail exiting at Constantia Nek so as to avoid their assailant.’
