A Cape Town driver acted quickly during an attempted robbery on Mew Way in Khayelitsha.
In a video that has been shared many times on social media and has since gone viral shows a driver travelling on the Mew Way bridge, heading towards the N2 exit.

As he approaches a set of broken traffic lights, a young boy walks up to his car, pointing a firearm. He quickly accelerates in the direction of the armed youngster, as captured in the video.

The driver reported that his car sustained minor damage, and the young boy was pulled to the side of the road by a friend. The youngster sustained injuries and was subsequently arrested by police.
This marks the second instance of a motorist captured attempting to use their vehicle to thwart an alleged perpetrator in recent days.
In a separate incident in Durban, Sandy-Lee Ward, while stationary in her Toyota Tazz, was caught on CCTV being robbed of her mobile phone. Ward reacted promptly, and surveillance footage from a nearby petrol station captured her pursuit of the suspect, using her car to strike him.
Motorists are urged to be cautious when travelling along Mew Way towards the N2 or R300.
