The Vodacom store at Tyger Valley Shopping Centre was robbed in the early morning on Wednesday [July 22], with shoppers managing to capture footage of the incident.

According to reports from nearby shop owners, a number of aggressive armed men stormed the Vodacom and Chatz stores in the mall at roughly 9:53am this morning and proceeded to make off with an unknown amount of goods.

A small number of shoppers and staff that were inside the store when the robbery took place were forced to sit or lie on the floor or hold their hands above their heads as the assailants searched the store for valuables.

Police are investigating the incident and were at the crime scene shortly after it took place.

Cellucity stores have since stated that no pictures will be allowed to be taken inside their stores due to safety concerns.

It is rumoured that a gang of criminals is targeting computer and mobile stores around Cape Town.
