There’s a lot that can be accomplished together. This is a sentiment that’s been highlighted countless times as South Africans do what they can to help those who have lost everything due to the devasting floods in KwaZulu-Natal.
Gift of the Givers has out the HUMAN in humanitarian work a number of times throughout the years and the organisation has been at the forefront of helping those in need during this heartbreaking time.
Cape Town is showing the province of KZN some love by helping to support the NGO’s relief interventions by donating water. Approximately 200 000 five-litre bottles left the Cape Town Convention Centre (CTICC) on Saturday, that’s around one million litres of water for those in need.
According to News24, people from as near as Stellenbosch have donated bottles of water and as far as Knysna.
“It’s been a phenomenal response from people in the Western Cape, who have come out in numbers to bring bottles of water to the CTICC in the past few days. We’ve closed the doors for collections,” Ali Sablay, a spokesperson for the Gift of the Givers foundation told the publication.
We certainly need more of this! It’s always great to see humans helping other humans.
