In honour of Nelson Mandela, Ladles of Love is looking to obliterate the Guinness World Record for the longest line of cans ever created. Cans for a cause, that is. This event was expected to take place on Mandela Day, but was postponed due to COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
The event is scheduled to take place this Sunday, August 29, at the V&A Waterfront, but Ladles of Love are still around 20 000 cans short of the 90 000 needed to nab the record and feed our community.
The aim of the game is to create a 6.7 kilometre long line made from food cans (playing on Madiba’s 67 minutes).
Last year, Ladles of Love, with the help of Capetonians, managed to crush the world record for the most sandwiches made in one hour. Over 304 000, nogal! So, we know that Cape Town is a family that cares.
Let’s rally together to feed our community and support Ladles of Love on their new mission. We’ve got just under a week to go. Get on board by purchasing cans HERE.
We’ll see you on Sunday to support, Cape {town} Etc family!
Here’s how you can assist:
- Buy food cans at R100 for 5 or buy by the metre that will be sent directly to the line
- Buy a volunteer slot to help Ladles of Love break the World Record
