This is the latest update on the water supply disruption to a large area of the Southern Suburbs due to the vandalism of an air valve in Blackbird Avenue, Parkwood.
The water and sanitation teams are on site, working on the necessary repairs to the vandalised valve. Major repairs are required, with no estimated restoration time given.
Due to the large area affected, water tankers will be roaming to ensure all areas receive water supply. The tanker schedule will be shared once it has been confirmed.
Residents in multiple areas of the Southern Suburbs are advised of a water supply disruption due to a major leak on a 915-mm-diameter bulk water main in Blackbird Avenue, Parkwood.
The leak, resulting from vandalism, requires urgent repairs from Water and Sanitation’s maintenance team.

The water supply was shut off at 3pm today to facilitate overnight repair work. Residents are advised to keep taps closed to prevent water loss and potential damage when the supply is restored.
Councillors will convene with Water & Sanitation Department officials online tomorrow morning to assess the situation and provide accurate updates.
If necessary, water tankers will be dispatched to affected areas. Information regarding tanker distribution will also be communicated in the morning.
Ward 63 Councillor Carmen Siebritz visited the site and confirmed that major repairs are needed.
‘Unfortunately, there’s no timeline at this stage,’ she said.
‘Thank you for your patience whilst repairs are effected.’
