Western Cape police have brought together a multi-disciplinary team of serious and violent crime detectives following a deadly weekend in which 16 people were killed in three separate incidents, as per ENCA.
The shootings happened in Lwandle, Khayelitsha and Milnerton, leaving multiple families and communities dealing with the aftermath.
The largest attack took place in Lwandle on Sunday morning, when ten people were shot at a Shisanyama. Another 11 people were injured in the shooting.
A day earlier, violence had also claimed lives in two other parts of Cape Town.
In Khayelitsha, four men were shot dead while sitting inside a car on Mthuma Street on Saturday.
Later that night, two people were killed at the Joe Slovo informal settlement in Milnerton.
Police have now tasked serious and violent crime detectives with investigating the three incidents and determining what led to the separate attacks.
At this stage, no arrests have been made.
The motive behind the shootings has also not been provided.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist investigators to come forward.
With the incidents occurring across different communities over the same weekend, the investigation will now focus on establishing what happened at each scene and identifying those responsible for the killings.
