Between 23 and 27 October, the City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be conducting planned work in specific areas, causing disruptions in water supply.
While these interruptions may be inconvenient, they are essential for the maintenance and improvement of the city’s water infrastructure.
In Plumstead and Wynberg, conditional assessments are taking place from 9 October until 30 November. This might lead to lower water pressure in some parts during the day for up to 1.5 hours.
In Table View, Flamingo Vlei and Bloubergstrand, zero-pressure testing will occur from 9pm on 24 October until 4am on 25 October.

Zero-pressure testing is also planned for Claremont, Newlands and Rondebosch from 9pm on 26 October until 4am on 27 October. These tests might result in low water pressure or temporary water loss in some areas.
As part of the pressure management technology installation process, some areas may experience low water pressure, and in some cases, no water from taps during the overnight testing period. The goal is to reduce water wastage and minimise pressure fluctuations by installing smart pressure-reducing valves.
These initiatives align with the City’s Water Demand Management Strategy, designed to prevent pipe bursts and reduce water loss.

Please note that water may appear discoloured or milky for a short period after the supply is restored. This is due to trapped air in the pipes and is not a cause for concern.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for these planned disruptions by storing enough water in clean, sealed containers in advance and keeping their taps closed to prevent water loss or damage when the supply is restored.
The City apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates residents’ cooperation in maintaining and improving Cape Town’s water supply infrastructure.
