A woman died after she was struck by a train between Salt River and Woodstock train stations on Thursday, January 21.

It is believed that the woman died somewhere on the tracks near the Masikane informal settlement, reports Radio 786.

According to South African Police Service spokesperson FC Van Wyk, the woman had reportedly tried to cross the tracks when the incident occurred. She was declared dead on the scene.
