Update:
The woman who was mugged and stabbed on Gie Road yesterday has survived 24 stab wounds. The attack occurred along Gie and Circle Road just after 7am on Monday, leaving the victim injured and traumatised.
Within the chaos, a brave resident is seen intervening, attempting to fend off the attackers and assist the victim. Despite the intervention, the suspects managed to snatch the woman’s belongings before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, confirmed to IOL that an investigation is underway, with Table View police responding promptly to the scene upon receiving a complaint.
The wounded woman was swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. However, the perpetrators have still not been caught.
According to SAPS, ‘Table View Police [has] registered a case of assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.’
The Table View Community Policing Forum (CPF) echoed concerns about the incident, urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities.
They emphasised the importance of community support in combating crime and ensuring the safety of all residents.
As investigations continue, authorities appeal to anyone with information to come forward and assist in apprehending the suspects.

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning on Monday.
A case has been opened at SAPS, with no further information currently available. The Table View Community Police Forum reminds everyone to be vigilant at all times.
