Update:
Lourencia ‘Renz’ Lombaard, who was arrested on Friday and charged with kidnapping and human trafficking, made a brief appearance at the Vredenburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning.
During the court proceedings, prosecutor Jacques Van Zyl said, ‘Your Worship, she made a confession’ but provided no further details of what had been confessed.
Announcing that she wanted to apply for legal aid, legal aid lawyer Nomfundo Sikhosana was appointed and took her details.
The case was postponed to 25 March for bail application.
A small group of protesters that gathered outside the court claimed that Lombaard had been a suspect since the beginning of the case and was likely the last person to see Joshlin, reported News24.
The 32-year-old joins Racquel ‘Kelly’ Smith, Jacquen ‘Boeta’ Appolis and Steveno van Rhyn as the fourth accused and will remain in custody.
She is believed to be a friend of those arrested in connection with Joshlin’s disappearance and was reportedly in the first group of people searching for Joshlin, according to a local resident.
Tomorrow, 19 March, will mark a month since the six-year-old was reported missing.
In a development regarding the disappearance of six-year-old Joshlin Smith, a 32-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in the Vredenburg Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
