I love a good shopping spree at Woolies, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Lynn Cupido.
Sure, do I walk out of the store chastising myself for having spent nearly half of my salary on 5 items – yes – but it’s the quality, you know?
Where else would I find the juiciest cotton candy grapes or the chocolatiest muffins? This past year, Woolworths has really been putting its money where its mouth is, rolling out a range of delicious curveballs that saw South Africans lose their minds.
Chuckles ice cream was the first on the list of drool-worthy options included on the retailer’s shelves which saw social media users buzzing with delight or a sugar-induced high… you decide.
I spent a good two months looking for this ice cream. Nearly every Woolworths was sold out.
A delicious Chuckles cake was next, which was covered in chocolate goodness and at the centre… tons of Chuckles’ famous malt balls. This was followed by their delicious range of cakesicles, just in time for Easter.
However, it seems social media is buzzing again after Woolworths announced its latest creation – Rotisserie Chicken-flavoured Chuckles.
We’re excited to announce our newest Chuckles creation – Rotisserie Chicken-flavoured Chuckles!
Think malt balls infused with delectable rotisserie chicken flavour, enrobed in rich, creamy milk chocolate. Slightly savoury, complemented by deliciously sweet… It’s a winner! pic.twitter.com/kW9dmtfHGL

Yup, malt balls infused with the delectable flavour of rotisserie chicken, all culminating in a creamy and rich ball of chocolate delight.
While the combination is definitely interesting and a winner for those who love chocolate covered chicken, the announcement coincides with the least reliable day of them all – April Fools.
Woolworths is yet to announce whether this is an actual creation, or simply a practical joke being played on their loyal customers, but the comments section of the retailer’s Facebook post has welcomed the news with open arms.
One user wrote: “Don’t joke about this. When I was pregnant with my youngest I craved chicken covered in chocolate… and yes I did make it and yes it was delicious… to my pregnant brain at least! Glad you didn’t pull this joke 12 years ago… I would have cried lol”
While another exclaimed: “I have been waiting for this my entire life.”
April Fools joke or not, give the customers what they want Woolies!
