According to Bizcommunity, working parents will be able to make use of after-care services, which will offer a supportive environment for families. ‘We are immensely grateful to BPAS Architects for their exceptional work on the Idayimani Montessori project. Their passion for creating a safe and empowering learning environment is evident in every aspect of the design,’ says Idayimani’s Kissmea Adams.
‘This academy will enrich the lives of children within the Langa community and ensure all tools and skills are available for a successful educational facility.’

The school is scheduled to open in January 2024. Once complete, the school will also train local women as Montessori directors via its Montessori Training Programme so that they can operate their own schools and support their families. About seven women from the local community have already completed their training with the Montessori College of South Africa.

Construction began in September 2022 after BPAS Architects received council approval. The company joined the project in early 2019. The design features flexible partitions in two spaces to accommodate larger gatherings and events.
Caretaker facilities, administrative offices and a kitchen are situated on the side closest to the street, adding a layer of noise reduction and safety. Students will receive daily nutritious meals as well.
As per the non-profit Love to Langa, some 22 childhood development centres, six of which are not registered, serve the Langa community of more than 52 000 people. To this end, Idayimani will cater for 200 children with six Montessori directresses, four assistants, a principal and a school manager.
The non-profit aims to ultimately create a facility with five classrooms, including disabled facilities, a properly equipped playground, a rooftop vegetable garden, and a water recycling unit, among other amenities.
