A weed harvester is a specialised vessel designed to manage aquatic vegetation. It operates with submerged blades to cut weeds and is equipped to gather and remove them.
This intervention is crucial for Zandvlei, particularly in controlling pondweeds and algae, thereby enhancing the wetland’s ecological health and navigability.
This weed harvester, the first of three planned vessels, was launched with a traditional champagne christening before its maiden voyage.
