The hosting venue, Christel House South Africa, is a non-profit, no-fee school based in Cape Town that serves more than 1 000 students from severely under-resourced communities on the Cape Flats. Robotics, coding and other ICT programs play an essential part of its holistic intervention to transform the lives of its student.
According to Cedric Esterhuizen, HOD of Christel House: Languages, CAT and Robotics (also the Vice Chair of the WRO Western Cape), they are honoured to be associated with the WRO as the official host of the provincial event this year.
“Our school has been participating in the WRO events since 2017 but, this year is especially exciting for our students as they’ll be competing on their own turf,” Esterhuizen said. He added that Christel House is very excited to welcome the top Robotics schools in the Western Cape to the campus to compete for a place at the upcoming national event.
In addition, a robotics workshop will be hosted for schools who do not have a robotics programme on 20 August 2022.
