The Galileo Open Air Cinema is sprinkling a dash of holiday magic with its festive movie experiences this December.
Its Christmas Day screening of The Grinch is set to be a highlight, capturing the spirit of the season amid the beauty of Kirstenbosch Garden.

The story of the Grinch has stood the test of time as a Christmas classic. Grumpy, change-of-heart Mr Grinch and his clever dog Max are sure to charm every guest, no matter their age or taste in films.
The Grinch Special Christmas Day Show
The 2018 adaptation of The Grinch is an animated Christmas comedy film starring the voices of Benedict Cumberbatch, Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, and Angela Lansbury, with narration by Pharrell Williams.
The plot follows the Grinch and his pet dog Max, who plan to stop Whoville’s Christmas celebration by stealing all the town’s decorations and gifts.
The film will fill hearts with holiday cheer, set against the stunning backdrop of Kirstenbosch, creating an opportunity for unforgettable memories and perhaps a new holiday tradition.
This is one of Galileo’s special screenings, meaning guests can expect a festive-themed picnic movie experience.
Tickets are R275 per person and include a candy cane, a Christmas hat, essential movie snacks, a backrest and a blanket.
Doors open at 6pm, allowing ample time to engage in giant lawn games, socialise and soak up the festive atmosphere before the movie starts at 8:30pm.
The on-site mini-market offers a variety of treats, including pizza, burgers, wraps and a selection of drinks. Catering to all dietary needs, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options are available.
