Winemakers’ Tasting Dinners
These themed evening dinners will be hosted by La Petite Ferme’s talented winemaker, Wikus Pretorius, who draws on his experience with both local and international wines.
Prior to joining La Petite Ferme in 2015, Pretorius worked for some of South Africa’s top wineries and estates in France, California and Australia’s premier wine regions.
Winemakers Tasting Dinner 1: Thursday, 25 May 2023
Viognier is the star of the show. The cultivar is known for its delicate acidity, dryness and varied expressions in France’s northern Rhône valley, while the dinner is dedicated to what many consider the ‘king of reds,’ Cabernet Sauvignon.
Despite its reputation as a full-bodied wine, it is also capable of delicacy and elegance in the hands of a skilled winemaker.
Winemakers Tasting Dinner 2: Thursday, 29 June 2023
It’s Chardonnay’s turn, a bold grape that continues to surprise and delight in all of its guises.
Each evening, La Petite Ferme’s winemaker Wikus Pretorius will begin with a showcase tasting of four wines: one from La Petite Ferme, two from other local Cape Winelands terroirs, and one from abroad.
All of the wines served that evening will be from the same cultivar, providing a unique opportunity to compare different expressions as well as the effects of terroir and technique.
The tastings will be followed by a three-course food and wine extravaganza, with dishes inspired by Pretorius’ most opulent taste experiences from his world travels.
‘These exquisite dishes are not on our restaurant’s à la carte lunch menu and will be paired with wines from La Petite Ferme’s renowned portfolio,’ Pretorius explains. ‘Our wine-paired dinners will provide enthusiasts of our beloved restaurant the chance to return to their favourite, month after month, each time to experience a different sensory indulgence.’
