Update:
All Western Cape routes have been reopened following clean-up operations and repairs.
According to the most recent provincial road network update, several routes have reopened following clean-up operations and repairs, while others remain closed.
Motorists are advised to take note of the following:

Reopened/open:
- Huisriver Pass between Calitzdorp and Ladismith: This route has been reopened after being closed due to rockfalls. Safety measures have been implemented.
- Huguenot Tunnel: The tunnel is open in both directions for light motor vehicles. However, heavy motor vehicles in Cape Town are being redirected via the R43 due to ongoing maintenance work.
- Meiringspoort between Klaerstroom and De Rust: This route has been restored after rockfalls and is now open for traffic.
- R44 Clarence Drive between Gordons Bay and Rooi Els: Rockfalls cleared away.
- Mitchell’s Pass between Ceres and Wolseley: This pass was temporarily closed due to mudslides, but it has now reopened.
Currently closed:
- Swartberg Pass: R328 between Prince Albert and Oudtshoorn.
- Bainskloof Pass: R301 between Wellington and Wolseley.
- du Toitskloof Pass: R101 between Paarl and Worcester.
- Grootriver Pass: R102 in Nature’s Valley.
- Franschhoek Pass: R45 between Franschhoek and Theewaterskloof Dam.
- Visserhok Road: M48 connecting Durbanville and N7.
- Goudiniweg
- Slanghoek Road: One lane of traffic on Slanghoek Road is closed due to maintenance.
The entrance to Citrusdale will remain closed until water flow allows emergency repairs to begin.
Travellers are encouraged to stay informed about road conditions and to follow any safety instructions issued by authorities.
