While en route to Langa and Bonteheuwel for the final leg of the Boks’ Trophy Tour in Cape Town, Captain Siya Kolisi made a video call to former professional tennis player Roger Federer. The surprise virtual guest appearance added even more excitement to the day.
Federer, who was born to a South African mother and holds dual South African and Swiss nationality, was among the crowd that witnessed the Springboks edge past New Zealand to clinch their fourth World Cup title.

The video opens with Kolisi holding his camera towards Cheslin Kolbe, who shouts ‘Kaapstad!’ at the camera and to the crowds of enthusiastic fans.
Kolisi then turns the camera to reveal throngs of supporters lining a bridge, reaching out from vehicles, and sprinting alongside the champions’ bus, all vying for a glimpse of the heroes and the gleaming Webb Ellis Cup.
The screen then splits to reveal a smiling Federer, who takes a few seconds to take in the festivities before signing off with ‘Amazing, Siya. Well done again. Enjoy it!’
