The wait is over, folks! The Galileo Open Air Cinema is back to bring us yet another season of pure, unadulterated movie magic under Cape Town’s starry skies.
Kicking off its 15th season this month, The Galileo brings a summer of 130+ films to spectacular venues across Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, with everything from timeless classics and rom-coms to thrillers, horrors, musicals, Bollywood favourites, dog-friendly screenings, new releases and even a lekker local Afrikaans movie.
Running from October 2026 to May 2027, the season also returns with yet another curated collection of themed nights for occasions such as Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter, as well as date-night-styled Galileo Royale experiences – complete with welcome drinks and access to a stocked bar.
Weekday screenings take place at Kirstenbosch Garden, with some taking over Battery Park (V&A Waterfront) and Central Park (Century City). Weekend screenings venture to venues across the Cape Winelands, including popular favourites like Glenelly Estate, Meerendal, Blaauwklippen, Nederburg and more, with Norval Foundation setting the scene for intimate Royale experiences.
Guests can arrive early to enjoy a picnic, lawn games, good vibes and food and drinks from a delicious selection of vendors before securing their movie snacks and settling in for movie night. Vegetarian, vegan and halaal options are available.
Doors open at 18:00 on weekday screenings and 17:00 on weekends, with movies commencing after sunset (± 19:30).
